Centre for the Study of Group Processes

Introduction

The Centre for the Study of Group Processes was set up in 1990 to consolidate the Department’s excellent international reputation for social psychological research into group processes and intergroup relations. The Centre is now a thriving international research community, including twelve full time academic staff, and various research fellows and PhD students. The Centre also attracts a stream of major international group researchers, who visit the Centre regularly to work with our staff and are officially affiliated to the Centre.

Over the years, the Centre has attracted a substantial portion of externally funded research, attracts high quality MSc and PhD students and also provides teaching for the Department’s MSc degrees. The MSc in Social and Applied Psychology has specialist recognition and funding from the ESRC. We also offer an MSc course in Group Processes and Intergroup Relations. The Centre also edits an international journal, Group Processes and Intergroup Relations (Sage).
