The Division of Criminological & Legal Psychology, founded in 1977, was renamed the Division of Forensic Psychology in 1999. The Division exists to represent the interests of the increasing number of psychologists whose work involves the Criminal and Civil Justice systems. The Division draws its membership from a broad range of psychologists working within/across a range of locations such as Prisons, Secure Hospitals, Probation, Courts, Community Settings, Social Services, Universities and the Police.
The 2010 conference aims to reflect the eclectic nature of the Division of Forensic Psychology and embrace the many areas of research and practice of interest to the Division, as well as supporting the importance of networking to enhance multi-disciplinary/agency working. Hosted by the School of Psychology at the University of Kent, the conference will cover a range of themes including sexual offenders, aggression, domestic violence, arson, legal processes, terrorism, and rehabilitation issues.
The conference will be of interest to a range of delegates whose practice includes coverage of forensic issues and/or who are studying forensic psychology as a discipline. Thus the conference will be of interest to psychologists, psychiatrists, solicitors, barristers, police, social workers, academics, researchers and students etc.
