Applied Psychology at Kent

These pages provide information on the BSc in Applied Psychology at the University of Kent.

The applied degree in psychology is a four year degree.

  • Stages 1 and 2 (Years 1 and 2 of study) are identical to the requirements for the BSc in Psychology.
  • In Stage S (Year 3) students undertake a placement within an organisation that delivers a form of psychological service, such as the Health Service, Home Office, Education Department or Social Services. During this time their work will be under the joint supervision of an academic supervisor in the School of Psychology, the Applied Degree Coordinator and your placement supervisor.
  • Stage 3 (final year) is identical to the requirements for the BSc in Psychology..

The applied degree is selective: in order to go on a placement, students must fulfil certain entry criteria, provide good references, and successfully complete a short screening interview.
