After obtaining a degree in translation (English/German/French) with specialisation in politics at the Institut Libre Marie Haps in Brussels, Tom Vandenkendelaere obtained a Master of Arts in International Relations with distinction at the University of Kent. In 2006-07, he was a scholar of the Royal Belgian Benevolent Society, an organisation under the patronage of H.M. The King of The Belgians.
In 2007, Tom started an MPhil and was awarded a university studentship for his programme. His focus is mainly on European enlargement theory and the role of Germany in Poland's accession to the EU.
In his spare time, Tom likes playing volleyball and is interested in cycling and Belgian politics.
