Angustias joined the School in 2007, after completing two BA in Law and in Politics & Public Administration and a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Politics and Government in Spain. She was awarded a distinction for her MA in Comparative Federalism, and she is currently a research student in the MPhil/PhD programme in Politics and Government. She has gained several scholarships to pursue her postgraduate studies, most recently one from “La CAIXA” and the Canadian Studies Foundation which allowed her to enjoy a year research stay at Concordia University (Canada).
Her previous academic experience includes teaching positions at UNAH University (Tegucigalpa, Honduras) and UNED University (Madrid, Spain). She has worked as a consultant for Fundación Alternativas (Madrid, Spain) and she has participated in different research projects funded by the Spanish Ministry of Education, the European Commission and the OECD.
Angustias’ main line of research focuses on federalism and decentralization from a comparative perspective. Accordingly, her PhD thesis examines autonomy demands in asymmetrically devolved countries, with Canada, Spain and the UK as case studies. Together with this attention to territorial politics, her research interests also include policies of gender mainstreaming and international cooperation for development.
