As well as giving your son or daughter a first-rate academic experience, Kent equips them with essential skills to give them the edge when it comes to getting a job.
Whether it’s through developing time-management skills, studying abroad, opting for a Year in Industry degree or an Enterprise module, or taking part in the Jobshop and volunteering programmes, there are plenty of opportunities to give CVs the added extras employers look for.
Kent also runs a nationally recognised 'Employability Points' scheme which rewards students for active participation in extracurricular activites during their time at Kent that improve and enhance their employability.
Activities include:
In 2012 the Government's Department for Business, Innovation, and Skills (BIS) used the Employability Points scheme as a case study for a report based on best practice within business/university collaboration. There are currently nearly 2,000 students and 86 companies engaged with the scheme.
Our students are encouraged to record their achievements and reflect on their development while they are at Kent via the University's e-portfolio tool, MyFolio.
MyFolio is a dynamic online space to record and showcase skills. Your son or daughter will be able to create pages to share with peers, tutors or prospective employers
Kent’s graduates have gone on to work for major companies such as the BBC, IBM, Microsoft, Barclays Bank, PricewaterhouseCoopers, KPMG, Lloyds TSB, Tesco, London Stock Exchange, Bank of New York, HSBC, Channel 4 TV, Marks & Spencers, Ford Motor Company, the Home Office, BMW, Sainsbury, BT and Eurotunnel.
