International Socio-Legal Meeting: Berlin 2007

ImageThe US-based Law and Society Association (LSA) has for some time expanded its Annual Meeting every five years by holding a joint meeting with the Research Committee on Sociology of Law (RCSL). The Berlin 2007 meeting, 25–28 July, expanded the international co-sponsorship even more broadly, including - in addition to the SLSA - the Law and Society Association, the Research Committee on Sociology of Law (International Sociological Association), the Japanese Association of Sociology of Law, the Vereinigung für Rechtssoziologie, and the Sociology of Law Section of the German Sociological Association. SLSA input was co-ordinated via our liaison member, Bronwen Morgan, on the International Planning Committee (IPC).Plenary session

The event was a resounding success with 2377 attendees from 72 countries – 264 scholars from the UK made the trip. The SLSA provided bursaries for seven students to attend. Full reports about the meeting were published in the Socio-Legal Newsletter No 53.
