University to deliver a boost to Medway businesses

Strengthen Your Business takes place on 18 November in the Rochester BuildingThe University of Kent is opening its doors to Medway businesses and inviting them to a special free event taking place in November.

During the event, called Strengthen Your Business, a range of speakers will demonstrate how companies can work in close partnership with the University and tap into its extensive commercial knowledge and resources.

Topics for discussion will include the opportunities for businesses to work with the University through consultancy, student placements and government-funded Knowledge Transfer Partnerships. Staff training, professional development and lifelong learning are also on the agenda.

Strengthen Your Business will take place at the University's Medway campus on Tuesday, 18 November, from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Organised in association with Thames Gateway Chamber of Commerce, the event is also backed by the Federation of Small Businesses.

The evening will commence with a series of presentations featuring University staff, as well as companies who have worked alongside the University in a commercial partnership. Towards the end of the event there will be time for individuals to network over cheese and wine.

James Corbin, Placement Officer for Kent Innovation and Enterprise at the University, said this was a golden opportunity for Medway businesses to find out about the resources on their own doorstep. 'I'm sure we have something to suit every need, whether it's for large or small companies, and all are welcome,' he said.

'We have first-class facilities we'd like to share and this event will be a whistle-stop tour of the services and expertise the University of Kent can offer.

'We're convinced that firms who work with the University can gain a competitive edge. Whether this means developing technologies and new products, or assisting with applications to government funding schemes, we're here to help.'

Dozens of businesses are expected to attend and, while the event is free, early booking is advised as places are on a strictly limited basis. To secure a place, please contact Kent Innovation and Enterprise on 01227 827376 or email enterprise@kent.ac.uk
