The University of Kent, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7NZ, T +44 (0)1227 764000
The University of Kent is staging an open day at its Medway campus on Saturday, 21 June.
Throughout the day, anyone thinking of entering higher education - whether as a full-time or part-time student - will have the opportunity to meet tutors, attend subject presentations and look around the fast-growing campus at Chatham Maritime.
Subject presentations and demonstrations will cover the full range of degree programmes available at Medway, including Journalism, Social Sciences, Creative Events, Business IT, Social Work, Law and Pharmacy. There will also be details on flexible learning courses for working people.
Visitors can also view lecture theatres and seminar rooms, equipped with the latest technology for all courses. Students interested in either Music Technology or Sports Studies degree programmes can tour the purpose-built music studios and fitness suites based in the University's £7 million Medway Building.
Subject desks will be staffed throughout the day. Representatives from Student Finance, the Careers Advisory Service and the Disability and Dyslexia Support Service will also be present.
Professor Clare Mackie, Pro Vice-Chancellor for the University of Kent, said the open day would provide a perfect opportunity to have any questions about university life answered by the experts. 'It's a great chance for people to see our award-winning facilities, chat to tutors and get a real taste of what it's like to be a student here,' she said.
Kent was rated the number one university in London and the south-east for student satisfaction in the last National Student Survey. The most recent higher education league tables published in the Guardian placed Kent in 28th place in the United Kingdom, out of 117 institutions.
The open day starts in the Pilkington Building at the Medway campus and runs from 10am to 3pm, with light refreshments provided.
