More than 50 businesses have registered with the ICE (Innovation, Creativity and Enterprise) network following its launch at the Canterbury Innovation Centre at the University of Kent on Tuesday 17 November.
ICE is a new and ambitious innovation project that aims to connect local, regional, national and international businesses to the University of Kent and each other. It was launched by Professor Julia Goodfellow, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Kent, at an event attended by business leaders, advisers, innovators, entrepreneurs, service providers and representatives from the University's research, business and strategic networks.
The guest speaker for the evening was Charles Leadbeater, a strategic adviser to corporations and governments, and 'one of the top management thinkers in the world' (Accenture).
ICE members include Pfizer Ltd (Sandwich), Curve 21 Ltd (Brighton), Kent Science Park (Sittingbourne), ifs School of Finance (London), Warners Solicitors (Tonbridge), Argent Ram Media (Ashford), Intelenet Ltd (Rochester), Innergy Ltd (London), MPB Industries (East Peckham) and Solace Pharmaceuticals (UK) Ltd (Canterbury).
Carole Barron, Director of Kent Innovation and Enterprise at the University of Kent, said: 'ICE will connect the public, private and third sector with the latest innovation and expertise from the University and demonstrate that organisations can ensure long-term growth by using creativity to inspire innovation in areas of their organisation. Signing up for ICE will enrol organisations into a global innovation network that can open up new markets and opportunities.'
