The Medway and Kent regional finals of First Lego League 2008 will take place on Monday 24 (Medway) and Tuesday 25 (Kent) November at Eliot College Great Hall, on the University's Canterbury campus.
FLL is an international programme for school pupils aged nine - 16 years that combines a hands-on, interactive robotics programme with a sports-like atmosphere using LEGO programmable bricks. Teams consist of seven - 10 players with the focus on team-building, problem-solving, creativity and analytical thinking. As part of the challenge, teams must research, plan, build, programme and test a fully autonomous robot capable of accomplishing that challenge - within eight weeks.
Climate Connections is the title of this year's theme and challenge.
The participating Kent finalists are: Archers Court Maths and Computing College; Brockhill Robotic Team; Chatham House Grammar School; Colchester High School; Gravesend Grammar School; Hereson School; Highsted Grammar School; Kent College; King Ethelbert School; Sandwich Technology School; Simon Langton School for Boys; Sir Roger Manwood's School; St Simon Stock Catholic School; and St Andrew's School.

Sponsored by the Kent Branch of the British Computer Society and Medway Education Business Partnership, the event is hosted by the Computing Laboratory at the University of Kent.
