University librarian awarded an MBE

Anna Miller, Subject Librarian at the Templeman Library, University of Kent, has been awarded an MBE for 'services to Higher Education' in The Queen's Birthday Honours list 2008.

A member of Templeman Library staff since 1979, Anna Miller's responsibilities include liaising with academic staff in the departments of Economics, History, and Politics and International Relations, and ensuring that all staff and students have clear and easy access to online resources. She also plays a vital role in welcoming and assisting the Library's wider community of users, including staff and students from the University's associate colleges.

John Sotillo, Director of Information Services at the University, was among the first to offer congratulations. He said: 'I am delighted that Anna's longstanding support of learning and research is being recognised by the award of an MBE.

'The library and information technology support and services provided by staff such as Anna at the University of Kent and other universities contributes hugely to the academic output of Higher Education in the UK.'
