Professor Andrew Gray, Emeritus Professor of Public Management, University of Durham, will give the Centre for Health Services Studies annual lecture at the University of Kent on Friday 24 October.
Titled The challenge for the NHS in Kent at 60: Being business-like but not like a business, Professor Gray's lecture will take place at 6pm in the Brabourne Lecture Theatre, Keynes College, on the University's Canterbury campus. There is disabled access to Keynes College and the lecture theatre. Open lectures are free and open to all.
Professor Gray will review the NHS' need to make the most of available resources, whilst sustaining the distinctive values that have made the service so respected. The lecture will explore what this means for Kent's patients, health professionals, and health care organisations.

Following his career in British universities and visiting overseas positions, Professor Gray founded a business which provides academic services for public management. His current roles include: Vice Chair of County Durham Primary Care Trust, Professorial Fellow at North East Public Health Observatory and Editor of Public Money and Management.
