The University of Kent, Canterbury, Kent, CT2 7NZ, T +44 (0)1227 764000
The University of Kent has been ranked 22nd out of 120 higher education institutions in the Guardian University Guide 2013 (published 22 May).
This confirms Kent's position as not only a top university in the southeast but one of the top universities in the UK.
Kent scored particularly highly in how students rated the teaching they receive, entry quality, final degree results (taking into account entry quality) and career prospects.
The University has seven subjects in the top 10 (Anthropology; American Studies; Architecture; Economics; Modern Languages; Religious Studies; Social Policy), with six ranked in the top 20 (Archaeology; Art & Design; Classics; Drama & Dance; English; History & History of Art). Many others are in the top 30.
The Guide, described by the Guardian as one that focuses 'on the things students care most about when they are choosing a course', is based on official data collected by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) and on the National Student Survey, published by Hefce.
Professor Dame Julia M Goodfellow, Vice-Chancellor of the University, welcomed the news. She said: 'This is great news for students and staff, many of whom have worked extremely hard to help Kent get to this position. It is also a reflection of the high standards of academic excellence and student experience we provide across all our campuses.'
