Elena Korosteleva, Professor of International Politics at the School of Politics and International Relations and a leading specialist in European ‘neighbourhood affairs’, has been a prominent expert voice in global media following the recent civil unrest in the Republic of Belarus.
Following the country’s controversial presidential election outcome, the republic has been the focus of headlines worldwide.
Professor Korosteleva, who is also Principal Investigator for the COMPASS Project at Kent, has recently appeared on BBC News, Al Jazeera, BBC Radio 4’s ‘World at One’, Channel 4 News and ITV News providing her expert insights into the nation’s troubled political situation.
Her research, supported by the UK government through the Global Challenges Research Fund has established ‘regional hubs of excellence’ at universities in the Eastern Neighbourhood and Central Asia to create research partners for the post-Brexit UK. The insights gained from this research are now proven as essential in understanding modern regional and global politics.
Commenting on her research, Professor Korosteleva notes, “With a rapidly changing and highly uncertain world, we need specialists who understand international affairs and I would say it is probably the most interesting time in the last 30 years to be studying Politics and International Relations”.
