Comparative Literature graduate publishes debut novel

Christian G Moretti, a Comparative Literature graduate, has just had his first novel published in Italian, entitled Che Morte non vi Separi.

Che Morte non vi Separi tells the story of Cesare, a quiet student in Milan, who’s life takes a dramatic turn when he meets Tor, a Swede new to the city. The two start a relationship together, but after a homophobic attack, Cesare is left in a coma. He still able to perceive his surroundings, but the two are left trying to communicate, and form an unconventional way of loving each other told through a series of intimate monologues.

This is Christian’s second book, following his PhD in Comparative Literature in 2013, he published his thesis in January as Conversations with the Self (Troubador, 2015).

Christian joins other alumni from the Department of Comparative Literature to go on to become novelists, included Lesley Gray, The King’s Jockey (Solis Press, 2013) as well as the prolific writer David Mitchell, author of Cloud Atlas (Scepte, 2004), which was adapted into a Hollywood movie of the same name. Mitchell studied on the MA in Comparative Literature.
