Short courses

Music and Audio Technology at Kent is an Avid Learning Partner and offers industry recognised courses for Avid Pro Tools Software.

The following short courses are designed to provide an extensive and in-depth understanding of digital audio recording and editing, post-production, composition and sound design with Avid Pro Tools.

We can also arrange group training for any of the courses outlined below. 

Pro Tools 101 – Pro Tools Fundamentals I

Dates TBC
Two-day course, 9am-5pm
Cost: £200

This course covers basic Avid Pro Tools 12 principles, giving you everything you need to complete a Pro Tools project, from initial set up to final mixdown. It focuses on Pro Tools 12 software and covers a multitude of new functions and feature enhancements.

Whether your project involves recording of live instruments, MIDI sequencing of software synthesizers, or audio editing or region looping, this course gives you the basic skills to succeed.

Options for delivery

This course typically runs in-house but can also be delivered at alternative premises for a large group, providing it has the correct facilities.

Pro Tools 110 – Pro Tools Fundamentals II

Three-day course, 9am-5pm 
Cost: £300

This course provides a more detailed look at the Avid Pro Tools 12 system, covering all the key concepts and skills needed to operate a Pro Tools 12 system. It provides the foundation for the later 200-series Pro Tools Production courses.

Certification

Upon completion of the exam, you are Pro Tools User Certified.

Pro Tools 201 – Pro Tools Production I

Dates TBC
Two-day course, 9am-5pm 
Cost: £300

This course covers the core concepts and skills you need to operate an Avid Pro Tools HD 12 system in a professional studio environment. The topics in this course expand on the skills learnt in the 100 level version and introduce new features.

Upon successful completion of the 200-series coursework you are eligible to take the Avid Pro Tools Operator Certification exam.

Pro Tools 210M – Pro Tools Music Production II

Dates TBC
Three-day course, 9am-5pm 
Cost: £400

This course covers specific techniques for working with Avid Pro Tools HD 12 software in a professional music production environment. Covering more advanced topics that focus on music production in Pro Tools. Upon successful completion of the 200-series coursework you are eligible to take the Avid Pro Tools Operator Certification exam.

Certification

Upon completion of the exam, you receive a Pro Tools Certified Operator Certificate.
