For many of you, preventing an unintended pregnancy during your time at university is important for yourself and your partner. It is important to remember that condoms help prevent both partners against sexually transmitted infection but are not as reliable as some other methods in preventing pregnancy. Going 'Double Dutch' i.e. using a combination of a condom and another contraceptive method gives best protection against sexually transmitted infection and unplanned pregnancy.
There are many different types of contraception available. Different ones suit people at different times in their lives. Choosing the method that's right for you may seem daunting, but at the University Medical Centre help and advice is confidential and freely available. Detailed information and leaflets on individual methods can be obtained from the Medical Centre and the University Nursing Service.
