The University Medical Centre is an NHS general practice based on the University of Kent Canterbury campus and welcome new patients.

The surgery is made up of six full and part-time General Practitioners fully backed by Nurse Practitioners, Practice Nurses and Healthcare Assistant Services as well as the many visiting Clinicians and Counsellors and offers a variety of services, please see our Services Page.

Our practice boundary requires Students to live within a 6 mile radius, and Non-Students to live within a 3 mile radius. Appointments can be booked by telephone or in person.

This is a new service and this number is free of charge from ANY phone

Changes within the NHS Structure

Important changes are happening within the NHS which might affect you and your GP Practice.

With effect from the 1st April 2013 the Canterbury and Coastal Clinical Commissioning Group (C4G) will be taking over fully from our Primary Care Trust (Eastern & Coastal Kent).

 

Canterbury and Coastal Clinical Commissioning Group - C4G for short - is made up of local GPs and other health professionals representing 23 practices across the Canterbury district, Faversham, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Sandwich, Ash and the surrounding rural areas.

New Mental Health Services

The University Medical Centre have been successful in setting up a new service to help improve access to psychological therapies. University Medical Centre Psychological Therapies is a young, enthusiastic, expert team offering talking therapies for many different psychological problems.

We are committed to providing a good quality effective service that is responsive to individual patient need. We are aware that each year nearly a quarter of us experience difficulties with psychological problems such as anxiety, low mood, low self esteem, anger, stress, phobias and trauma.
