Student learning advisory service

The Student Learning Advisory Service (SLAS) is a free, friendly advice service providing guidance and information on all aspects of effective learning and study skills to all students from the minute they arrive at the University until they finish their studies. SLAS is part of the Unit for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching and is a popular resource for undergraduates, postgraduates, full-time, part-time, mature, European and international students.

What we offer

Partnerships with students

Individual and confidential advice and study guidance

Any student, or small group of students, who wish to improve their learning can make an appointment with a learning adviser who will offer guidance and support. If a student is unable to get to a University campus, they can arrange a telephone appointment or email the Student Learning Advisory Service at learningmedway@kent.ac.uk

Additional help with writing

The Royal Literary Fund (RLF) is a national scheme that aims to help students develop their academic writing. The Student Learning Advisory Service hosts a Royal Literary Fellow at the University’s Medway campus where students can make individual appointments to discuss their writing. Email learningmedway@kent.ac.uk or phone 01634 888884.

Mathematics and statistics support

In partnership with the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science, we provide mathematics and statistics clinics. To book an appointment, email:learning@kent.ac.uk
