Sport

Sport and physical activity is an important part of student life at the University. It is a fantastic way to become involved and meet new people, who often become friends for life. To support this, Kent offers an extensive variety of facilities and sporting opportunities to enable you to take part in a sport or activity of your choice. See the Sports website for more details.

Facilities

In addition to our existing popular facilities (including two multi-purpose sports halls, artificial and grass pitches, tennis/netball courts, dance studio and gym), students will potentially have access to our enhanced services including indoor tennis/netball courts, two new glass-backed squash courts, spinning room, additional dance studio, cycle lodge for bike hire, and a substantial new fitness suite on two floors housing the latest exercise equipment and physiotherapy services/treatments.

We also offer a wide variety of dance/fitness classes, sports courses, workshops and fun tournaments throughout the academic year. Students can choose from a number of different types of membership that best suit them. See the Sports website for more details.

Olympic Legacy Programme

During 2012, as part of our Olympic Legacy Programme, we are developing additional sports facilities to create further opportunities for students. Due to be completed by early 2013, these include:

  • significantly enhanced/larger fitness suite with three distinct areas for general fitness, wellness/rehab and high performance training for sports teams and clubs
  • a third multi-purpose sports hall
  • new larger dance studio which can be split into two for smaller, more intimate classes with enhanced lighting and sound
  • covered structure providing three indoor tennis/netball courts which can also be used for other activities
  • physiotherapy clinic linked to the new training facilities providing a seamless pathway from acute injury to full fitness.
