Visitors and external users
The pages below outline access schemes and procedures for visitors to the Templeman Library on the Canterbury campus. To find out about access to the Drill Hall Library on the Medway campus, please go to the Drill Hall Library visitors pages.
External borrowers (paid membership)
If you are undertaking private research and are not eligible for any access scheme to the Templeman Library, you can apply to become an external borrower.
An external borrower Library card allows you to borrow 8 books for up to four weeks at a time. Core Text Collection and Part-time Collection items, multi-media material, and journals are excluded from borrowing under this scheme.

If you wish to be registered as an external borrower of the Templeman Library, or for further information:

Fees
Category 1: University of Kent alumni
- £50 per annum + VAT = £60.00 (= 50% discount on individual rate)
Category 2: individual
- £35 for 3 months + VAT = £42.00
- £60 for 6 months + VAT = £72.00
- £100 per annum + VAT = £120.00
Category 3: non profit organisations
- £100 per annum + VAT = £120.00 per card
Category 4: other organisations
- £400 per annum + VAT = £480.00 per card
Students of other universities - temporary borrowing, vacations only
- £10.00 per borrowing period (Winter Vacation, Spring Vacation, July, August, or September)
