Bookable group study rooms

Four bookable group study rooms are available on Level 2 Centre. These rooms can accommodate groups of up to six students. Rooms 1 and 2 contain multimedia equipment suitable for practising presentations and all rooms are suitable for general group study.

Students can bring their own notebooks/laptops or borrow them from the Library.

The rooms are not available to staff, who are asked to use facilities elsewhere on campus.

Booking and walk-in use

  • Bookings must be made at least one day in advance during Welcome Desk staffed hours:
    • in person at the Welcome Desk, Level 1 Centre
    • by phone: 01227 82 4777
  • Bookings are for one hour slots, with a maximum of two slots per group per day.
  • When not pre-booked the rooms are available for walk-in use.

Equipment

Rooms 1 and 2:

  • one student PC
  • wall-mounted display screen
  • wireless keyboard and wireless mouse
  • conference table and six chairs

Rooms 3 and 4:

  • conference table and six chairs

Opening times

  • Monday to Friday, 9am–9pm
  • weekends, 9am–6pm.

The rooms may be in less demand first thing in the morning or after 6pm on weekdays, and at weekends.

Room guidelines

  • All Library and IT regulations and policies are in effect in this room.
  • The maximum number of students in a group study room is six; do not bring in furniture from elsewhere in the building.
  • No food or drink (except in screw-top bottles) may be consumed or on display in the room.
  • The rooms are situated in a quiet study zone - keep noise levels appropriate to this environment.
  • Priority is given to groups who have booked. Walk-in users must leave the room when a booked group arrives.
  • The person who booked the room is responsible for its use during the period for which they have booked.
  • Return all furniture and equipment to its original location before leaving the room and dispose of any litter.
