Borrowing

To borrow items you need your KentOne Card or Library card (we cannot accept alternative forms of identification).

Use a self-issue machine (Level 1 Centre, Level 1 West or Level 2 Centre) or go to the Loan Desk on Level 1 West.

What can I borrow?

Students
Undergraduates
  • 16 items, including 2 DVDs/videos and 2 CDs
  • no journals
  • Ordinary Loans for 4 weeks (can be recalled by another user after one week)
Taught postgraduates
Research postgraduates
Part-time students
  • same number of items as full-time students
  • Ordinary Loans for 6 weeks (can be recalled by another user after 2 weeks)

All books from the Part-time Collection have been moved into the Main Collection as Ordinary Loan items. Instead, registered part-time students can borrow Ordinary Loans for the longer period of 6 weeks (items can be recalled after 2 weeks).

Disability and Dyslexia Support Service registered students with inclusive learning plans (ILPs)
  • same number of items as full-time students
  • Ordinary Loans for 6 weeks (can be recalled by another user after 2 weeks)
  • One Week Loans for 2 weeks
  • 3 Day Loans for 5 days
Staff
All University of Kent staff

 

 

Visitors, external borrowers and alumni

  • Registered External Borrowers (paid membership): see the External Borrowers page for details of borrowing rights.
  • SCONUL Access: see the local SCONUL Access page for details of borrowing rights.
  • Visitors and external borrowers cannot use items from the Core Text Collection or any multimedia material.
