What do I need?

To borrow Templeman Library items you need your KentOne Card. External borrowers need their Library Card. Without it you cannot use self issue machines or borrow from the Loan Desk. We cannot accept any alternative forms of identification.

Where can I borrow items from?

To borrow Templeman Library items take them either to the self-issue machines on Level 1 Centre and Level 1 West, or to the Loan Desk.

What can I borrow?

Students
Undergraduates
  • can borrow up to 12 books at any one time (including books from the Core Text Collection)
  • can additionally borrow two DVDs/videos, and two CDs at any one time
  • cannot borrow journals
  • can borrow items in the Ordinary Loan category for four weeks (items can be recalled by another user after one week)
Postgraduates
  • can borrow up to 20 books or journals at any one time (including items from the Core Text Collection)
  • can additionally borrow two DVDs/videos, and two CDs at any one time
  • can borrow journals not confined to the Library for one week
  • can borrow books in the Ordinary Loan category for:
    • taught postgraduates – four weeks (items can be recalled after one week)
    • research postgraduates – ten weeks (items can be recalled after one week)
Part-time students
Staff
Academic staff
  • can borrow up to 24 books or journals at any one time
  • can additionally borrow two DVDs/videos, and two CDs at any one time
  • can borrow journals not confined to the Library for one week
  • can borrow items in the Ordinary Loan category for up to one year (items can be recalled by another user after one week)
  • can borrow from the Part-time Collection
Non-academic staff
  • can borrow up to 8 items (excluding journals) from the Main Collection
  • items will be issued for 4 weeks
  • cannot borrow from the Core Text Collection, Part-time Collection or any multimedia material
Visitors and external borrowers

  • Visitors and external borrowers cannot use items from the Core Text Collection, Part-time Collection or any multimedia material.
