If you have a specific medical condition that we need to be aware of please speak to Welcome Desk staff on arrival. We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

Emergency evacuation procedures
  • Make sure you are aware of the nearest evacuation route from where you are working.
  • When the fire alarm sounds magnetic door holders throughout the building release and doors close automatically. Push pad automated doors will continue to operate.
  • In the event of an evacuation lifts must not be used.
On hearing the fire alarm
  • If you are a wheelchair user or have reduced mobility, ask someone nearby to accompany you along the nearest signed wheelchair exit route.
  • Do not use the lifts.
  • Make your way to a marked Refuge Point located next to the West Central staircase
on all floors. Await assistance from Campus Watch or the Fire Brigade.
  • If a member of Library staff has not reassured you that assistance is being sought,
use the emergency call point and ask several passers by to make sure that
Security staff are aware of your location.
