The online version of the full Cochrane database includes several
datasets. It gives you access to the full-text
of all Cochrane Collaboration systematic reviews in the Cochrane
Database of Systematic Reviews. It also gives you access
to abstracts for all the controlled clinical trials contained in
The Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials.
Furthermore, the CRD databases (DARE, NEED and HTA) are available.
The interface will search across all of the datasets at once, and
display the results for each one separately. There is
a browseable MESH thesaurus, a search history so that you can combine
previous sets, and some date and field limit options so that you
can restrict your search.
The Cochrane Library covers all aspects of health and medicine,
and Cochrane Reviews are considered the "Gold Standard"
of evidence on which to base decisions about healthcare interventions

Medline covers the fields of medicine, nursing, psychiatry, veterinary
medicine, dental literature, neurology and bioscience from 1966-
The database is freely available in several versions (all look
and are searched differently).
PubMed is the most sophisticated version of the database
- use it for complex literature searches. It has a browseable MESH
Database, an advanced search which includes features such as browseable keyword
indices and a search
history. It includes the ability to save searches or set up search alerts (by creating a MyNCBI account), as well as a journals
database (so you can find the full title for journal abbreviations), and other tools such as Clinical Queries.
There is also a citation
matcher (so that you can check up any partial references you
may have, and find the full details).
PubMed Central is an initiative aimed at providing free
access to papers from a core of participating journals. You can
either search PubMed Central directly for papers, or else search
PubMed itself Access to any any of the free, full-text journal
articles will be linked in via the abstracts.
