Thesis Collection: theses and dissertations completed at Kent

The following types of assignments submitted for a degree at the University of Kent are held in the Templeman Library Thesis Collection:

• all theses submitted for higher degrees
• dissertations for higher degrees; from 1994 onwards only those of distinction standard
• some extended essays or dissertations submitted as part of first degrees in certain subjects
• local history dissertations, mainly diploma level

How do I access them?

To access an item from the Thesis Collection, complete an online Store request form (or a paper form, available from the Loan Desk and the IT & Library Support Desk). Store collections are made on weekdays at 9.30am and 2.30pm; items can be collected from the Loan Desk from 11am and 4pm.

Items from the Thesis Collection are issued for 4 hours and cannot be taken out of the Library. If you want to keep the item for longer, speak to a member of staff at the Loan Desk; you can borrow it again unless someone else has requested to use the item.

How do I find them on the catalogue?

All items in the Thesis Collection are included in the Library catalogue. To see records of all theses/dissertations submitted for a particular subject, follow the classmark links in the table below.

Alternatively, go to the Library catalogue, set the search drop-down list to 'Classmark', then enter a relevant classmark from the list below in the search box.

For example, a classmark search for 'UI6' will list all theses and dissertations in International Relations.
