Critical perspectives research led teaching
We have a fully staffed Postgraduate Office who will often be your first point of contact for any queries you have, both before coming to Kent and whilst you are here. As well as dealing with the administrative side of your studies (such as module registration and dissertation submission), the Postgraduate Office also provide advice on a range of pastoral issues.Outstanding Electronic Resources
Kent Law School has developed an award-winning electronic gateway called Lawlinks - allowing you to quickly and easily navigate your way around a variety of legal databases and resources. Lawlinks is constantly updated by our own Law Librarian, who also provides training on how to get the most out of the electronic resources we have.
We also have a very well stocked paper library (also maintained by the Law Librarian), with numerous text, case, and statute books, and an extensive number of journals. We subscribe to a range of publications and to variety of state of the art subscription databases which are immensely valuable in legal research.
As well as having access to all student PC's on campus, both taught and research law postgraduate students have their own computer rooms (complete with heavy duty printer) and common rooms, providing quiet and relaxing environments for study and socialising.
Because we know that you'll probably need more computer memory than other students, we also give postgraduate students extensive additional file space on our departmental server and an extra amount of printing credits.
Both the taught and research postgraduate common rooms and computer rooms are wireless enabled, allowing you to access the internet and continue your work from your laptop.
Kent Law School has a lively and active postgraduate community, bought about in part by our strong research culture and by the close interaction between our staff and students.
Taught students have regular contact with their programme and module conveners (supervisors for research students), with staff on hand to answer any questions and to provide helpful and constructive feedback on submitted work. Students are also encouraged to attend our programme of (often lively) staff seminars, and to upgrading seminars given by research students. Through these activities and informally, there is a lot of contact with academic staff, not limited to those supervising or teaching you.
Kent Law School also has a Postgraduate Student Group which brings postgraduate students together to convey and share their academic experience and become actively involved in the organisation of social and cultural events.
