Am I eligible to apply for one of Kent's postgraduate law programmes?

It is possible to apply for all of our postgraduate degree programmes without a first degree in law but with a degree in a related subject. Professional experience in an appropriate and relevant field is also taken into consideration when applying for our programmes.

What documents should I submit in support of an application for an LLM (taught), LLM by Research or PhD?

Two academic references relating to your most relevant/recent academic achievement

Transcript of all marks for your degree(s) and degree certificate(s) (undergraduate and postgraduate if applicable)

Is there a deadline for submitting my application?

KLS does not have a deadline for applications. However please be aware of deadlines for funding applications and campus accommodation application.

How do I apply for the KLS Taught Masters Overseas Scholarship?

To be considered for the KLS Taught Masters Overseas Scholarship you should:

a) Complete an online application for one of our specialised LLM programmes and upload the required supporting documentation for that application.
b) Submit by email a case for the award of the scholarship along with a KLS PG Funding Application Form to klspgfunding@kent.ac.uk.

How do I apply for the KLS PhD Studentships?

To be considered for this studentship, candidates must make a formal application for postgraduate research study at the University of Kent. Applications to the University can be made online. In addition to the regular supporting documents required, candidates must submit a sample of written work (not exceeding 5,000 words). Finally a KLS PG Funding Application form must be submitted.

How do I apply for the Larry Grant Scholarship?

To be considered for this studentship, candidates must make a formal application for postgraduate research study at the University of Kent. Applications to the University can be made online. When can I start my programme?

The taught LLM programme at Canterbury will commence in September of every year. The term dates are available by using the following link to the website: http://www.kent.ac.uk/about/termdates.php.

Research students, that is LLM by Research, MPhil and PhD students, commence in September. Exceptionally, it is possible, but subject to approval, to commence in January.

I am a new student, how do I choose my modules?

During the first week of the autumn and spring term you will be given the opportunity to try different modules. For these weeks only, you will be able to attend the lectures of any postgraduate law modules on offer before finally registering for modules via the online module registration process.

Prior to the first week of term, a module fair is held in order to help students to decide which modules to take. Module convenors discuss for approximately five minutes the objectives of their module.

It is advisable that modules are registered during/after the module introduction week.

 

I am a research student at Kent Law School, how do I apply for scholarships/studentships at KLS?

A new online PhD application is not required. In order to be considered you should submit the following to klspgfunding@kent.ac.uk:

- Updated research proposal
- Sample of written work
- KLS PG Funding Application form, available here. (Application number will not be applicable)

You should also organise for your supervisor to submit a supporting reference to klspgfunding@kent.ac.uk.
