Kent Law School PhD Studentships and Bursaries 2010
Kent Law School is pleased to invite applications for its research studentships leading to the award of PhD commencing in September 2010.
Kent Law School is a centre of world-leading critical legal research and is seeking studentship candidates whose research will contribute to existing debates in their chosen field of study and who will contribute to a vibrant postgraduate community.
The studentships will provide a maintenance grant equivalent to that offered by the Economic and Social Research Council (£13,290 in 2008/09) and tuition fees paid at the home/EU rate (£3,670 in 2009/10). Some additional bursaries (for example, reducing overseas fee to home fee rate) may also be available. Those awarded a studentship will normally be expected to teach a maximum of four hours per week in term time on an undergraduate English law module, at the direction of the Head of School.
Kent Law School was ranked as the 6th best law school in the UK in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise, with 65% of research assessed as being either world leading or internationally excellent. It enjoys a pluralistic intellectual environment for research, where both traditional and critical legal scholarship, theoretical and empirical work, and interdisciplinary studies all flourish. There are in excess of 50 postgraduate research students in the Law School, comprising a lively and integrated postgraduate research community.
