Migration and Law Network

The Migration and Law Network is a group made up primarily of legal and social science academics with an interest in migration law and policy in the United Kingdom. It was founded at a meeting in London in September 2007.

The core purpose of the network is to promote research and teaching on migration law and policy in universities. The network also seeks to provide a forum for academic expertise with respect to migration law and policy to reach the public sphere.

We understand ‘migration law and policy’ to include law and policy on asylum and on nationality and citizenship.

Main activities to date:

  • Support for teaching in migration law and policy in universities and other educational institutions
  • Organising meetings and conferences at which current questions in migration law can be discussed
  • Responding to government consultations on migration law and policy
  • Providing an electronic mailing list, to be used e.g. for the sharing of information, and for publicising events in the field. Click here to join the mailing list

Membership of the network is open to:

  • academics and postgraduate students with an interest in migration law and policy
  • lawyers, NGO members and others who are interested in the development of migration law and policy as a field within universities
