The University of Kent – the UK’s European University – has a growing reputation for innovative, world-leading research and an inspiring student experience. Kent has an enviable long standing reputation in the Social Sciences especially in Social Policy. In RAE 2008, the Kent School of Law also achieved great success. There is research excellence in Kent Business School, economics, psychology, anthropology and conservation and politics and international relations. It is also home to a new Centre for Journalism and a Centre for Sports Studies.

The University is now seeking to appoint an outstanding Dean to provide clear leadership through the next exciting phase of growth and development. Leading the University’s largest faculty, the post-holder will line manage the Heads of School and academic centres, encouraging and increasing high quality research and teaching excellence. Candidates will be first-class academics, with proven management experience together with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence effectively at the most senior levels.

An executive search exercise is being undertaken by Perrett Laver. Perrett Laver will support the selection committee in the discharge of its duties, both to assist in the assessment of candidates against the requirements for the role and to identify the widest possible field of qualified candidates.

Perrett Laver will conduct preliminary interviews with candidates; shortlisted candidates will subsequently be invited to visit the Univeristy of Kent and will be given the opportunity to meet with senior staff for informal discussions. Shortlisted candidates will subsequently meet with the selection committee for the formal selection process.
