Supporting the provision of IT facilities for schools and departments.
Disk space rental
Each person on the Kent network (on drive Z) gets 300MB of disk space (excluding email quotas). Schools/departments can rent further space (£25 per 5GB per year), to provide extra personal file storage space for staff or students (drive X), or shared space for projects.
Fixed quotas can be imposed on the usage by individuals or groups. Most departments rent extra storage on the Storage Area Network. Any queries? Contact helpdesk.
Server provision
Information Services can house and maintain physical or virtual servers. These are stored in a secure environment with operating system updates regularly applied. Files are backed up to tape for recovery in case of disk failure.
