Can I buy Microsoft Office from the University for home use?
Staff can buy a copy of Office 2007 at a discounted rate of £12.50 (for a "per machine" copy; staff are only licenced to use it whilst working at Kent) from IT Reception, Cornwallis South, Canterbury campus (you will need to show a staff card). IT reception is open Monday-Friday, between 9am-5pm. Your PC or laptop requires either Windows 7, Vista or Windows XP (with service pack 2 or 3).

Should I have Office 2007 on my xp staff managed desktop?
Staff Managed Desktops will remain using Office 2003, however an upgrade to Office 2007 can be organised on request. Users should be aware that the interface is very different, and some corporate services may not work.

How do I work with files created in different versions of Microsoft Office?
- files were saved as "Word 97-2003 format" (to do this, click File, Save As and select the format from the list). If some new features were used they may be lost.
