Pawel Pawlikowski’s first film in eight years – following the critically adored Last Resort and My Summer of Love – is a dark, disturbing thriller set in Paris.
Ethan Hawke (Before Sunrise) stars as Tom Ricks, an American writer in Paris to win back his estranged wife and daughter. Ending up at a shady hotel in the suburbs, he must work as a night guard to make ends meet. Then Margit (Kristin Scott-Thomas) walks into his life, and they embark on a desperately passionate relationship which triggers a series of inexplicable events – almost as if an obscure power was taking control of his life.
