The Criminal Justice System in 2012: Is it fit for purpose?
Spring 2012 Open Lecture Series
Speaker: His Honour Judge Jeremy Gold QC

Jeremy Gold studied law at UKC (Eliot) between 1973 and 1976. He was called to the Bar in 1977 and enjoyed a wide ranging criminal practise in London and the South East. He took silk in 2003 and subsequently defended and prosecuted in many high profile cases of murder, rape and complex professional crime. One of his last cases at the Bar was defending John Worboys (the “black cab rapist”) at Croydon Crown Court in 2009.
He was Head of Chambers at Westgate Chambers in Lewes between 2003 and 2009. He was involved through the South Eastern Circuit and the Bar Council with a number of committees interested in the general welfare of the Bar and the negotiation of legal aid fees. He has sat as a Recorder at the Central Criminal Court and was appointed to the Circuit Bench in 2009. He presently sits at Maidstone Crown Court.
