Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at 2011 Sundance, this affecting romance is about the manifold difficulties of transatlantic first love. British student Anna (Felicity Jones – Cemetery Junction) falls for her American classmate Jacob (Anton Yelchin) while studying in the US, and they embark on a passionate relationship; which abruptly, and unfortunately, becomes long-distance when she violates the terms of her visa and must return to the UK.
Desperately in love but unable to see each other, they are forced to face up to the realities of their situation. Deeply romantic and wistful, Like Crazy is about the hopefulness and heartbreak of first love; but also feels unusually realistic in its depiction of how practical considerations can play havoc with romantic ideals.
