BEST Travel Award Winner - Eleanor Ward
Eleanor Ward a second year English and American Literature with Creative Writing student has won a BEST Trave Award for her year abroad. Eleanor will be spending her third year studying at the University of California Irvine. Eleanor was awarded £675 towards the cost of her flights:
I am so pleased to have been awarded the BEST Travel award, it is going to make things so much easier when I leave for America. It’s coming up so quickly and there are a lot of things to organise, but to know that the financial worry of the costs of my flights are covered is really so important. I wanted to study in America because of the opportunities it will allow me, both socially and culturally as well as educationally: I am able to take such a wide variety of different courses within my degree that I wouldn’t of been able to without the year abroad and to be able to experience a year somewhere completely new is an amazing experience! However the extra expense is always something that I’ve considered and BUNAC have helped with that burden. The financial consequences are also higher for me as a disabled student, as I am having to live in a single room and travel in a way that compensates for my disability, so the help is appreciated all the more, making what would be an even more expensive trip that bit more affordable. I am really excited about beginning my year in California, I just want to fly out and get started now!
