Schools and Colleges
The Institute of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (IMSAS) at Kent is committed to supporting schools and colleges in Kent in promoting and sustaining an interest in Mathematics at all levels.
To achieve this, we offer a range of activities designed to inform, inspire and motivate students to study mathematics at the secondary and higher levels. Our classes show the participants how to solve puzzles with algebra, explain what water waves and populations have in common, show how to design experiments to gain maximum information from them, demonstrate new statistical techniques to analyse the human genome or introduce financial analysis to optimize the use of pocket money.
The activities have proved popular with students and teachers, are varied in their mode of delivery including talks, workshops and courses, and take place on Campus or in schools.
