Effective interpersonal

Session Leader

Simon Black, Learning and Development Consultant

2 x 2 hour sessions (must attend both sessions)

The first 2 hour session (KQSCR  12th June 2-4pm) will give participants the background on assertive behaviour. People will have the opportunity to practice, in order to understand levels of appropriate assertion and levels of appropriate response, including verbal and non-verbal behaviour. At the end of the workshop participants will be asked to consider over the next few days a few examples of recent (or up-coming) situations when they have to interact with people, and be ready to bring back to workshop 2.

The second 2-hour session (Senate CR1, 16th June) will involve participants working through their examples in small groups and receiving feedback from colleagues on effective behaviour and areas for personal development. The workshop will also be used to help participants to understand how others (service users, students, colleagues) perceive them and how that should influence interpersonal behaviour.
