David Grummitt is a historian who specialises in the political, administrative and military history of late-medieval and early Tudor England.

Dr David Grummitt studied at the universities of Kent and Leicester and the London School of Economics, where he completed his Ph.D in 1997. He has held research posts at the University of Oxford and the History of Parliament of Trust and taught at the London School of Economics and the University of Cambridge.

His research interests focus on the fifteenth and early sixteenth centuries. He has a particular interest in the Wars of the Roses, and especially the changes in political culture brought about by defeat in the Hundred Years War and the experience of civil war. He has a particular expertise in military and administrative history, having published extensively on the Calais garrison and the reign of Henry VII. His current research focuses on Cade’s Rebellion of 1450 and the political culture of late-fifteenth century England and he is writing A Short History of the Wars of the Roses to be published by I.B. Tauris in 2012. Dr. Grummitt welcomes enquiries from prospective research students interested in the political, military and cultural history of late-medieval and Tudor England.
