Description

The Festival Chamber Orchestra celebrating 21 years with the Crowther Wind Quintet.

Conductor: Anthony Halstead, Leader: Jeremy Ovenden

A Gala evening to celebrate 21 years of the Crowther Wind Quintet. Together with Festival Chamber Orchestra, they will be performing the wonderful Mozart Symphony no. 40, and his Sinfonia Concertante for Wind & Orchestra. Guest soloist Alison Teale performs the splendid Arrival of the Queen of Sheba, along with Honneggar’s delightful Concerto da Camera for cor anglais, flute and string orchestra, and later pieces from Anton Piazzolla’s Nightclub, recently recorded by Alison on her new CD ‘Cor!’

Back in 1992 Dario Marianelli wrote a piece especially for the CWQ debut. Twenty-one years later (now an Oscar winning composer) Dario has taken the time to compose a new piece to celebrate the Quintet’s 21st Anniversary Year.
