The University’s Chorus and Symphony Orchestra join forces for the annual concert in the inspirational surroundings of the Cathedral nave to perform a single work, Haydn’s choral masterpiece The Creation. The composer portrays each new element of the Creation in a wonderfully graphic way through his music - everything from wind, rain and hail, the sun, moon and stars, to every sort of bird and beast, including soaring eagles, roaring lions, shimmering swarms of insects and sinuous creeping worms – before finally Adam and Eve appear and the ‘new created world’ is complete.
