Bright Shadow is an exciting new Community Performance Company that works within communities and educational institutions across Kent. We deliver innovative workshops, long-term projects and produce site-specific performances that encourage people to explore and celebrate daily life, individuals and their communities.
Bright Shadow was created out of a passion to work collaboratively and creatively with communities that are on the edges of society or have little or no access to the arts. These groups can often have a hard time being heard. By offering people a creative outlet, we hope to let the brightness come out of the shadows.
We believe that performance allows people to explore life from new perspectives, breaking the mundane and re-inventing the way we engage with our surroundings. We want to give people exciting experiences that leave them with joyful memories.
Bright Shadow’s performances are always site-specific and aim to engage with ‘accidental audiences’-people who wouldn’t ordinarily be able to access performance unless they ‘accidently’ come across one happening in their usual environment. Bright Shadow’s performances are always created through working with the community in which it is to be performed.
We aim to maintain a celebratory ethos to our all of work, encouraging participants to positively engage in life, facilitate achievement and value communities and individuals for who they are. Please see the website for more information, or if you are interested in working with us then please contact us on info@brightshadow.org.uk.
