Philippe Le Guay | France | 2010 | 106mins | Fabrice Lucchini, Sandrine Kiberlain, Natalie Verbeke, Carmen Maura.
Set in sixties Paris, the stylish farce The Women on the 6th Floor stars Fabrice Luccini (Potiche) as Jean-Louis, a stockbroker enjoying a peaceful bourgeois existence with socialite wife Suzanne (Sandrine Kiberlain – Mademoiselle Chambon) until they hire new maid Maria (Natalie Verbeke).
Following Maria to the maid’s quarters on the 6th floor, Jean-Louis is introduced to a group of sassy Spanish maids, refugees of the Franco regime, who teach him there’s more to life than mindlessly falling in line.
“[...] impeccable timing and flawless acting from top to bottom” Kenneth Turan, The Los Angeles Times
