The second most successful film of all time at France’s box office, Untouchable charts an unlikely friendship between wealthy, middle-aged tetraplegic Philippe (François Cluzet - Tell No One) and poverty-stricken Driss (Omar Sy - Micmacs), that starts when Driss is hired as Philippe’s live-in carer. Expanding each other’s horizons, they show each other that there are different ways to live. It’s a heartening sign that this moving film has done so well in France, where the divide between rich and ghettoised poor in the banlieu is often pronounced (and was the cause of the 2005 riots in Paris and beyond).
