North By Northwest

Description

Cary Grant is caught up in the ultimate game of mistaken identity in Hitchcock’s classic thriller. He’s Roger Thornhill, a New York exec who’s fatefully mistaken for “George Kaplan” by a groupf of malevolent foreign spies who haven’t bargained with “Kaplan’s” dogged ingenuity. So the scene is set for a spectacular cross-country chase and an under-pressure romance with an enigmatic fellow train traveller (Eva Marie Saint). Utilising shades of dark and light, wry comedy alongside moments of pure fear, North by Northwest is superbly successful, offering seamless entertainment from start to finish.

I can’t imagine anyone now succeeding in blending thrills, spills, caresses and laughs the way [Hitchcock] did in this sublime classic from 1959.” Peter Bradshaw, The Guardian

“A tightly conceived, expertly executed thriller from the master of suspense." Film4
