A bonanza of a woozy Western comedy that delights children and adults alike. When Rango, a chameleon in a Hawaiian shirt, pitches up in the town of Dirt, he finds himself swiftly embroiled in a Wild West outpost in desperate need of a sheriff. A bit like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas without the drugs, and with a Chinatown-esque storyline about hidden/privatised water, there are old movie references aplenty to keep parents and cinephiles engaged, while youngsters can riff on the film’s weird bunch of characters and kooky charm.
