Screened in competition at the Berlinale, this vigorous historical epic is set in 18th century Denmark at the court of King Christian VII, and is based on a remarkable true story. Caroline Mathilda is married to King Christian and before long it becomes clear he's actually mentally ill. Caroline falls in love with visiting German advisor Johann Struensee and realise that they have the influence to reform Denmark for the better.
