Organise and plan the payment of your tuition fees, accommodation fees and any other fees that you may be required to pay to the University by following the links below.
University regulations governing the registration of students and the information contained within this guide sets out what the University expects of you in terms of the payment of fees.
As a student of the University you are required to pay tuition fees for each year of your course.
Under the University regulations, tuition fees are due in full at the start of each academic year or at the start of your course, whichever is the later.
Tuition fee invoices for all courses will be emailed to your University email address.
If you are applying for funding from Student Finance England then please keep a copy of your financial notification to hand in case we need to refer to it.
Payments can be made in full at the start of each academic year. If payment is received by 31st August 2011, a 2% early payment discount can be deducted from the payment.
Tuition fees can be paid in two equal instalments. The first payment is due on or before registration and the final payment is due by 1st December 2011
The instalment plan is available only for payment by debit/credit card through the University web payments system
If your fees are being paid by a sponsor (a private company or other organisation) not parents/relatives or Student Finance England, please print and complete the form from the finance website and return it to the Income Office with a confirmation letter from your sponsor on company/organisation headed paper.
See the accommodation office website for information on accomodation fees.
Please note that the University does not issue invoices for accommodation fees. You will be issued with an accommodation agreement when you accept your room offer and this will detail the fees due for the year and the dates on which they are due for payment.
Please ensure that you keep this agreement with you or pass on a copy to whoever is responsible for paying your accommodation fees.
Please refer to your accommodation agreement for details of the amounts and dates due. Payment for period 1 should include the refundable damage deposit and any sundry charges such as linen hire. If you have paid a £300 advance payment, this may be deducted from your payment for period 1.
Payment can be made in full at the start of each academic year. If payment for the full academic year is received by 27th September 2011, a 2% early payment discount can be deducted from the payment.
Undergraduates residing in self-catering accommodation will be permitted to pay on the first day of each term to allow for receipt of maintenance loans. Payment for the full amount due for the term must be received on the dates quoted on the accommodation agreement.
The instalment plan is available only for payment by debit/credit card through the University web payments system.
Other charges such as library fines, master’s fines, parking charges, room transfer fees, late payment supplements or other miscellaneous charges will be added to your student account as they arise during the year. These charges must be settled in full immediately.
A list of miscellaneous charges that may be added to your student account can be found on the finance website.
Payment for these charges are due immediately upon issue and can be paid at the Income Office in person by cash, debit/credit card or over the telephone by debit/credit card, by bank transfer or through the web payment system.
If at any stage during the year you experience any financial difficulties please call into the Income Office as soon as possible to discuss the matter with a member of staff.
The following offices are also available to discuss financial issues with students and the links below provide further information.
The University is pleased to announce that it has decided to recognise the family and personal loyalty shown by registration on multiple degrees by siblings, children of alumni, husband and wife studying together or alumni studying for additional degrees when privately funded.
A discount of 10% of the first year’s tuition fee will be allowed to those students who meet the criteria set out on the finance website.
If fees are not paid within the given timeframes, students will be deregistered and will be deemed withdrawn without any further opportunity to study, unless permitted to intermit by the department/faculty, and return at a later date. The deregistered student will have no recourse to University resources including accommodation and all email and access requirements.
Late payment supplements of 1.5% of the outstanding balance may be added to unpaid accounts and there will be a charge for declined instalment payments.
All students considering withdrawing from their course should discuss the matter with their departmental senior tutor or student advisor.
Students must then follow the proper withdrawal procedure through their department.
Student Finance England will not pay your fees if you withdraw before 1 December. You are advised to speak to Student Finance England to discuss the financial implications when considering withdrawal from your course.
If you have paid your tuition fees, upon withdrawal, you may be entitled to a refund based on the following rules of withdrawal
The first four weeks of term one is considered as the ‘settling-in period’ and any student withdrawing within these four weeks will not be charged Tuition Fees for this period.
Following this period, fees will be reduced based on the number of months completed, pro-rated against the total months allocated to the year. This applies to all students and their sponsors.
If you are withdrawing from your course you will also need to inform the Accommodation Office
Accommodation fee refunds are at the discretion of the Accommodation Office and are subject to the details given in your accommodation agreement.
See the website for details of the University complaint procedure
If you do not agree with your home/overseas status you will need to make an appeal against this decision.
For new students, who have not already been assessed or registered on their course, please contact Dr Phil Shore in the Information, Recruitment and Admissions Office.
If your home/overseas status has already been assessed by the University, please contact the Student Financial Aid Office.
